Woke up this morning ... several times ... planning to go to work. Ate breakfast at Perry's Cafe, then returned to my humble abode (temporary), at the El Rio Motel outside Old Town, and picked up my messages. Opps ....
The VA Doctor phoned leaving me a message to get to the hospital immediately. There is a growth, possible tumor, 6.4 cm on my liver, and a smaller one that is constricting or blocking the anterior portal. They have scheduled me an appointment with the doctor, and want me to schedule with the Liver Clinic (hold the onions), and the Oncology Clinic. OOOOOhhhhhh mmmmyyyyyyy!
Well, not to worry. The pain from the Osteoarthritis is aggravating, and the fact that I've pretty much lost all the material possessions I've owned gets me down a little. The female of our species, who benevolently kidnapped my cats, Patches and Wubba, and turned them in to the Animal Shelter ... where they have since been murdered ... did the worst of all misdeeds to this man. Would have preferred she kill me instead. My heart has been broken since last August when she did the deed, so life is pretty much, "So what more can this world do to hurt me?" My answer, not much, so f__k it.
I don't fear death any longer, nor do I give a rats ass about living or dying at this point. I own nothing of value to anyone, with the exception of a few first edition books, so the only thing I have to lose any longer, is misery. And I welcome the chance to lose that.
A little note here to Rhythm, of Rhythm and the Method (Local SD Band) ...
As I said before ... I've known you since time began, and will know you again next time around. Somehow, we manage to find each other over and over, even if for but a few brief moments. If brought back again, I will see you here ... if not, then, I will see you on the other side little sister. All my love to you and Noah, and know that I hold you both close in my heart forever.
Sun, then rain ... white billowing clouds moving swiftly across the afternoon sky. San Diego in the Spring. I love it.
Went to Hamburger Mary's 14th Anniversay Party the other night. What an experience. The employees, from waiters to security to bartenders are some of the nicest and best in the business. The Patio was packed, wall to wall people. Laughter and Trash Disco ... add to that their KickAss Margueritas and you have the mix. Gay, Straight, Unknown ... all together and having a great time.
Only one incident of unpleasantness occurred, and it was brief and immediately resolved by security escorting the offending party out the door. But, hey, when you get that many people together, and only have one brief altercation, then you've done pretty well. Trixie was there with the Jello Shots. Rob was running around with his pink feathered scarf and hat. Richard spent a miserable time at one end of the bar, surrounded by ladies. Not his preference. Holly, Jill, Chris, Jeremy all found refuge at the opposite end. I sat in front of Clayton for most of the time, and the book will be coming out soon.
Inside, Sharone and Munson were at the main bar. Matt was at the Dance Floor bar, and they were slammed most of the night. Shouna came out with a friend, Rachel and Jasmine were there. "Siegfried and Roy" (not there real names) were there. A lot of good people and a lot of good memories. What a night. Thank you Chris, Thank you Hamburger Mary's.
Today was trash pickup day and I actually remembered to roll the bin out last night. Pretty good for me. Finally figured out the pick up schedule and unless it changes, I should be okay.
Well, it is Good Friday, a day of sacrifice for humanity. While the hate and violence are a reality, let's lessen their impact with compassion and tolerance. Let's choose leaders that really care and direct their efforts towards bringing peace to this world, and understand that we are here to share this earth with all things. Remember also, there are people dying in Darfour.
No rain today, but a constant moving of high clouds across the area because of the storms in the Pacific. A little cool for here (57 degrees ... my God that's freezing), so people are bundled up and running about as if in the throes of winter. Having spent the past 5 years in Rockport and Gloucester, Massachusetts, I can't help but be amused.
Winter has become to me, a Nor'easter, blowing in hard off the North Atlantic. I would stay indoors for the most part, except for a few careless moments trying to capture the event on film. The day following a winter Nor'Easter was always interesting. Coming out of the house, the side where the entrance stood would have snow, iced over and drifted up some. The side of the house facing the brunt of the storm would be a solid sheet of ice. Surreal to a guy who spent the majority of his years in Los Angeles.
And now, to hear people talk about how 'cold' it is here at 57 degrees ... well, what can I say except .. "SURF'S UP!"
So, it never rains in Southern California? Then what the heck is all that stuff pouring out of the sky just when I'm trying to move? An "Arctic Cold Front" you say? But, this is not New England! I put up with Arctic Cold Fronts for five years in Massachusetts, and I really don't need them here. Of course, here the temps hover at lows of 50+ degrees Farenheit, rather than the 10- degrees in New England, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. But I really would like the rain to stop so I can get moved. Maybe Cheney can shoot somebody and change things. Then again, he apparently doesn't hit what he's aiming at (or does he?) so I don't know if it would do any good. Oh well, peace.
Well, a little going on ... moving from a 1 bedroom to a two bedroom. Why ? Because it's there. Only been here since January, and already moving again. What's up with that? It's two doors down from my current location, so it's really not that big a deal. Same landlord so lease wasn't a problem.
Showing my place this afternoon, and in the middle of laundry at the moment. The new place was broken into by homeless people yesterday morning ... about 3:00am, so the locks were changed. Seems one of the guys had a key for the old locks. Not a good thing. Hate for them to walk in on me. Don't need the grief associated with causing them great harm.
It's also on the second floor. So, it's up the stairs with all my stuff. Back and forth, back and forth ... what a hassle. But, it's huge!!! And the heating is better, and it is a little more secure (as long as no one else has a key). So, here's to the new place. Cheers!
